Google Pixel 9 May Soon AirDrop Files Directly to iOS

Quick Share Google sort of pulled the rabbit out of the hat when it introduced AirDrop support in QuickShare. This provides the means for users to send files between Android and Apple devices. However, this capability has not yet been a feature of the Pixel 10 series. That may be a change in the coming days, as new evidence suggests that AirDrop support in Quick Share is also being added to older Pixel phones starting with Google Pixel 9 and could mean it’s going on.

AirDrop support in Quick Share might be coming to the Pixel 9 series next

While digging through the new Android Canary build (ZP11), according to Android Authority, “… paraphrasing 251212. They found that Google has added new system files for Quick Share to send files to iPhones for the Pixel 9 series, 007). Weirdly, the Pixel 9a is not included in ouriordy. The older Pixels apparently did not appear in earlier firmware for the latter, reportedly without these files.

It seems like this change is coming to the Pixel 9 series first. The new system files that allow AirDrop-style transfers aren’t yet available for other old Pixel phones, including the Pixel 8. That doesn’t mean that s will never have the option, but this does not mean they’ll never get it. Google may be preparing this for the Pixel 9 series, and hasn’t set the foundations of others yet.

No release timeline yet

But this isn’t surprising, as Google has previously said that Quick Share’s interoperability with Apple’S AirDrop would eventually lead to more Pixel devices over time. But that didn’t give any specific dates for , though it did not say exactly when he would have done so. Until now we can see Quick Share between a Pixel 9 and an iPhone in action. But if system files are added to the new Canary build, it’s enough to suggest that Google is expanding this.

Similarly, it’s not clear when the Pixel 9 series will receive the AirDrop-style file sharing. It may be part of Android 16 QPR3, or Google might bundle it with Android 17.
